What This Coin Looks Like (Obverse, Reverse, Mint Mark Location, Special Features, etc.):
1960 Doubled Die Obverse DDO Silver Roosevelt Dime Proof
The 1960 Silver Roosevelt Dime had a major error in one of its proof coin issues. Some coins feature a slight doubling of the words "IN GOD WE TRUST" and the numbers of the 1960 date with the "60" being most prominently doubled. In addition: The "JS" initials of John Sinnock (the coin engraver) are also doubled. These are depicted by the arrows in the example image of the coin above. There are many varieties of this double die obverse (DDO) error and not all doubling will appear as strongly. The value goes up with stronger and more noticeable doubling.
