1815/2 Capped Bust Half Dollar - 5 Over 2 Overdate Error
All 1815 Capped Bust Half Dollars are 1815/2 Overdate varieties with a 5 Over 2. There were no known "Normal Date" varieties without the error. This variety features an 1815 date struck over an 1812 date in the die which resulted in coins with very subtle portions of the underlying "2" seen on both sides of the "5". It is often extremely hard to spot these features as they are so small - but they are depicted by the arrows in the closeup example image of the 1815/2 date below:
