One major variety is the 1820 Capped Bust Half Dollar which features a curled base on the number "2" in the date. The bottom of the "2" is curled and curved as opposed to the other major variety with a flat base. This variety features a smaller date as well. All curled base "2" varieties do not feature a knob on the upper tip of the "2" either.
