1873 Open 3 Restrike Two Cent Piece
There were two major varieties of the 1873 Two Cent Piece. The first was the "Closed 3" variety where the inside of the "3" in the 1873 date is more narrow and closed up. This coin was only produced as proofs. The second variety is the "Open 3" as shown in the example image above where the inside of the "3" is more open and wider. This was a restrike version.
