Over my decades of collecting, selling, giving away coins as gifts, etc. I've probably gone through a few thousand buffalo nickels. No lie, and I'm not even a dealer. Back when the error craze was at its height, at least for me, I'd say '98-2003, I bought the books, learned the language, bought the loops, joined this club that club, and talked to anyone that would let me. Sound familiar? So after taking the pic of this buff, and enlarged the pic, there was that chunk of metal over the "e" above pluribus. Could be a Cud, or just some nickel that flew on the planchet as it was about to be struck. Who knows. I've seen this a lot over the years. Additional, I saw some doubling that's not machine doubling, yet only effects a few letters/numbers. Look for yourself, it's pretty busy back there! A lot to say for a what, an 8,or 10 Dollar coin? Maybe. But remember, this hobby takes people to places that books seem to always find another reason to be written.
