The Gettysburg National Military Park quarter is the first to be released in 2011 and the sixth overall in the America the Beautiful Quarters Program. The Battle of Gettysburg was a turning point in the Civil War and was one of the bloodiest battles, with 51,000 casualties. The Gettysburg Battlefield Memorial Association, a group of concerned citizens, first set out in 1864 to preserve the battlefield as a memorial to the Union troops who fought there. On February 11, 1865, the battlefield was transferred to the federal government as Gettysburg National Military Park
The Glacier National Park quarter is the second to be released in 2011 and the seventh overall in the America the Beautiful Quarters Program. The park is named for its prominent glacier-carved terrain and remnant glaciers descended from the ice age of 10,000 years ago. Spectacular scenery within the park has been created by glacial forces, ancient seas and geologic faults. These lands were first set aside as a national reserve on February 22, 1897
The Olympic National Park quarter is the third to be released in 2011 and the eighth overall in the America the Beautiful Quarters Program. From glistening tidepools to glacier-capped peaks, Olympic National Park protects more than 70 miles of Pacific Ocean beaches and, less than 33 miles away, the glacier-capped summit of Mount Olympus that is the heart of the Olympic range. It was first established as a national site on February 22, 1897
The Vicksburg National Military Park quarter is the fourth to be released in 2011 and the ninth overall in the America the Beautiful Quarters Program. More than 1,350 monuments, a national cemetery and the restored Union ironclad gunboat, the U.S.S. Cairo from one of the pivotal battles of the Civil War, are featured within Vicksburg National Military Park. The U.S.S. Cairo was the first warship sunk by an electronically detonated “torpedo.” Vicksburg was first established as a national site on February 21, 1899
The Chickasaw National Recreation Area quarter is the fifth to be released in 2011 and the 10th overall in the America the Beautiful Quarters Program. Chickasaw National Recreation Area exists as a part of the national park system to commemorate the Chickasaw Nation and its cultural history, historic landscapes and structures and to provide public education through use and enjoyment of these resources. It was originally established as a national site on July 1, 1902

In 2011, as part of the America the Beautiful Quarters® Program, the United States Mint introduced the America the Beautiful Quarters Three-Coin Sets to honor the Nation’s national parks and other national sites.
Each three-coin set features an uncirculated quarter from the United States Mint at Philadelphia, an uncirculated quarter from the United States Mint at Denver and a proof quarter from the United States Mint at San Francisco with images specific to each national site. The coins are held in a durable plastic card and include a brief description of the site and the coin, as well as a Certificate of Authenticity on the back of the card.
The America the Beautiful Quarters Three-Coin Set is also available through the United States Mint’s Online Subscription Program. Visit our Subscriptions page for more information.
The America the Beautiful Quarters Program features designs depicting national parks and other national sites. Each year five new national site designs are depicted on the reverse (tails side) of the America the Beautiful Quarters. The United States Mint will issue these quarters in the order in which the honored sites were established as national sites.
