This Pope Pius X11 Holy Year 1950 Ascension Commemorative Medallion was designed by E. Boninsegna and struck by the eminent A.E. Lorioli Fratelli of Milano, Italy in circa 1965.
The obverse side depicts an extremely high relief of the Pope's profile and is inscribed "PIUS XII PONT MAX A JUVILAEI ROMAE MCML". The reverse has a rendition of the Ascension scene over the Vatican with banner inscripted "PAX HOMINBUS BONAE VOLUNTATIS" and below "ANNO JUBILAEI ROMAE MCML"
This 100mm medallion has an oxidized bronze matte finish on bronze planchet, the standard coin medium used by A.E. Lorioli Fratelli for 100mm and less, and weighs approximately 554 grams.
