What This Coin Looks Like (Obverse, Reverse, Mint Mark Location, Special Features, etc.):
1822/1 Capped Bust Half Dollar - 2 Over 1 Overdate
One major variety is the 1822/1 Capped Bust Half Dollar with the 2 Over 1 Overdate. This coin features an 1822 date struck over an 1821 date which resulted in parts of the underlying "1" being visible within and around the last "2" in the date - particularly in a corner between the base and the center of the "2" as depicted by the upper-right arrow in the example above. Another way to identify this variety is to note that the last "2" is clearly thicker than the first "2". The base is thicker as well as the curled tip as depicted by the arrows in the example image above.
