1933 Indian Head $10 Gold Eagle - Ten Dollars
The 1933 $10 Gold Indian Head Eagle is one of the finest and rarest US gold coins - and this was also the last year that this design and $10 denomination would be produced. Many of these coins were produced but they were melted down by President Franklin D. Roosevelt's order in the midst of the Great Depression. Only about 30-40 of these coins are known to have survived. Source of example image is courtesy of Heritage Auction Galleries.
