The 2020 W Jefferson Nickel is the first nickel minted at the West Point Mint. This proof coin comes as a free premium item included with a 2020 Proof Set purchased from the US Mint in 2020. A 2020-W Reverse Proof Nickel is available in the 2020 Silver Proof Set. There was also a plan to produce a 2020-W Uncirculated Nickel to be included with the Uncirculated Mint Set - but production of this coin was cancelled late in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. These special West Point nickels are packaged separately in US Mint plastic wrapping - in addition to the purchased sets. In the previous year - the US Mint also released three different 2019-W Lincoln Pennies with the three different sets.
