1850-C NGC MS60+ half eagle $5 gold, RARE BU CHARLOTTE w/ beautiful original orange patina. here's another super scarce uncirculated issue from the obsolete historic Charlotte branch mint. only 63,591 minted. we all know how fickle the TPG's can be and it is obvious when viewing this piece that NGC was a bit harsh on it. we have seen mint state coins with obvious scratches that were in straight graded holders so we are surprised this one was labeled as such. the photos don't show it but what NGC is referring to is a light surface abrasion that didn't come out in the photos but does under magnification- it runs from between star 2 and star 3 to between star 5 and 6. it isn't readily noticeable so your gain because you get an uncirculated specimen of a rare obsolete branch mint at a AU58 price. looks original, the color is exactly what would be expected for the issue and it has full mint luster underlying the attracive light toning. the strike is strong for the issue and there are no serious marks or other problems. good eye appeal as well. NGC has graded only 20 in all mint state grades combined and there are only 163 pieces graded in all grades combined in NGC's 30 years in the grading business but many of those are re-submissions fishing for a higher grade and profit to the submitters. stack these numbers and the Carson City popularity up against any 1916-D dime or gem BU 1909-S VDB cent for relative rarity and sheer value. the NGC online price guide lists a problem free MS60 piece at $10,500.00 and PCGS pegs it the same. the Fair Market Value online guide lists it at $10,190.00 but we'll let this one go for a good bit less. please see the photos- they are of the exact coin the buyer will receive.

Why buy our coins for your collection? Simple- because we are collectors looking for beautiful high quality coins for our collection, not dealers looking for a quick buck. If it wasn't nice enough to fit our high quality set, we didn't buy it. If it was rare but ugly and we're now selling it, we will describe it as such, otherwise you can expect a nice eye appealing coin for your money and a money back guaranty (we don't ask for a restock fee) that you'll love it as much as we did. We love this hobby and want you to enjoy it as much as we have all these years!

Policy: Payment due upon purchase. Please do not buy if you don't intend to pay immediately. If you need more time or would like to arrange a lay-away, we would be happy to work with you. 7 day return privilege (item must be postmarked for return within 7 days after it arrives in your box), buyer pay return postage unless we made a mistake in the listing. (Grades are nothing but opinions no matter who is offering the grade. Grading differences are not considered mistakes, please see the photos and put your own grade on it before buying.)
