1876 P Indian Head Penny

Here is a very, very sad-looking 1876 P Indian Head Penny that has been the victim of two significant events that have essentially ruined this coin. First, it has been carried in way too many pockets so that it has become quite worn. Secondly, it has been seriously mistreated by exposure to very corrosive material (buried in the ground?). While it was submitted to PCGS for restoration in the hopes that at least some of the damage could be undone, alas, they are not miracle workers. While they did their best to remove the corrosion, it is obvious that they were unsuccessful in removing anywhere near all of it. Consequently, they were only able to give it a grade of AG Detail. Nevertheless, this is a somewhat rare Indian Head Penny (as the prices below indicate). For what it is worth, it is interesting to note that, like so many coins, the front of this coin is misaligned with the reverse, but in the opposite direction of most coins. PCGS (July/August 2021) indicates that an AG 3 coin would be worth $23 and USACoinbook warrants that if you were to purchase a G 4 coin from a dealer that you would pay about $38. However, you can have this very, very sad-looking (but restored & graded) coin for only $9 (plus shipping).

This item is a part of a liquidation sale currently in progress and is priced to sell. Retirement looms and with no one else in the family interested in this pastime, it is time to find new homes for all of my coins. Please note that other avenues of liquidation are being explored so this particular item may not be around much longer.
