1885 PCGS MS66 Liberty Nickel, a super eye appealing beauty & RARE TRUE MS GEM!

here's THE KEY DATE and another premium example in superb gem condition at the very top of the grade and graded by the #1 respected grading service in the world. with nearly perfect surfaces and no unsightly marks, toning streaks or spots, this beautiful little lady has an absolutely original appearance with unbroken superb mint luster and no toning. the coin is as original as you can get and the luster is brilliant and gives a great 'cartwheel' effect when rolled under the light. the strike is nearly full, with all detail sharp except for a slight weakness in the left corn, as usual for the series, although it is mostly all there. still, the strike is very close to full and this piece should please the pickiest collector- I know because I am one, and when I put my $$$ down for a coin like this, it had better be worth it. potential buyers should note that there are quite a few MS66 liberty nickels on the market presently with deep and/or obvious marks and spots on them- be cautious when buying gem coins, there are overgraded slabs out there and they are a poor value at any price. the other thing that buyers of this and any rare date liberty nickel should be aware of is weak proof specimens being erroneously labeled as mint state- they are not worth near what a true superb gem uncirculated piece would go for. in 1989 I had the good fortune to have met Walter Breen at the Pittsburgh ANA convention and I had him look at my raw gem 1886 lib nick. he mentioned that to be absolutely sure that a high grade 1885 or 1886 is not a proof, look at the edges closely- if they are sharp and square, it is likely a proof, but if they look abraded and rounded, it is because circulation strikes didn't have their edges turned up prior to striking so they didn't get struck up into the corners of the dies. this piece passes the test and is guaranteed a true business strike and worthy of the price. if you see one for much less, it is likely because it was a proof and mislabeled. caveat emptor! we have seen some 1885 MS66 nickels in our long searches and none of them could hold a candle to this true superb gem. there are two 1885 MS66 nickels listed on ebay at the time of this listing- one is a MS66 with light toning streaks priced at $17,500.00 and the other is a MS66+ with die breaks priced at $25,000+. we humbly believe ours is a much nicer coin for less.

Why buy our extra coins for your collection? Simple- because we are collectors looking for beautiful high quality coins for our collection, not dealers looking for a quick buck here on the internet's biggest dealer dumping grounds. If it wasn't above average, top of grade or downright undergraded, we didn't buy it. If it was rare but has problems and we're now selling it, we will describe it as such, otherwise you can expect a nice eye appealing coin for your money and a money back guaranty that you'll love it as much as we did. We love this hobby and want you to enjoy it as much as we have all these years too!
