After many years of being excluded from the penny minting process the workers at the mint went on strike. A few years later their wishes were granted. Upon receiving the dies from Philadelphia with the D designation workers immediately ground it off feeling it might be used to identify them. Their original orders to mint 15 million fell short by 4 million. Many feel these were the first no D Lincoln Wheat Cents. This may be one of those.

Please note that the silver coins may appear a little more "golden" in hue than it actually looks. If you're buying it based solely for that reason, please pass. I have no trouble tripping over myself if I send the wrong item but in no way am I trying to enhance the photo in any way.
