1923 (P) Standing Liberty Quarter with Major Die Break/Interior Cud. Solid About Uncirculated Grade. This extremely rare and fascinating SLQ variety is included in the excellent reference guide to the series, "Standing Liberty Quarter Varieties and Errors" (2nd Edition) authored by SLQ expert Robert H. Knauss. It is indexed as K-0178 and can be found on pages 322-324. It is also popularly known as the "Big Brother Teardrop Variety." This variety has a dramatic obverse interior cud in the recessed area on the left side of Lady Liberty by her right knee. The coin available here is of the more desirable late die stage with the cud being much larger than one in an early die stage. Much of the original mint luster is present. Grading is subjective. Please examine the attached photos to formulate your own opinion in regard to grade.
