1923-S Walking Liberty Half Dollar Very Tough Date PCGS VF25 Crusty Original

Tough Date to find in the middle VF/XF grades and freshly graded from PCGS as VF25.

This coin has a very original, crusty patina devoid of wipe lines and other distractions. About 50% of Liberty's Breast outline remains and the reverse is pristine, virtually mark free and all original. The eagle feathers are bold and about 50% complete

This coin is excessively rare in XF., and this coin is definitely not XF. However, the 1923-S is known as being one of the weakest struck dates of the series. The hubs changed after 1921, and this being the first year of the new hub issue, coupled with the fact it was only struck in San Francisco likely contributed to how poorly struck this coin was. As such, getting PCGS or NGC to properly factor in the weakness of strike to a VF/XF 1923-S Walker often proves futile.

Please draw your own conclusions and please assess the amount of wear and grade yourself. You may come to the conclusion this could have just as easily been a 30 or even a 35 or maybe you disagree. That's the beauty of the hobby - grading is subjective. Don't be 100% reliant on someone else to form your opinions.
