For your consideration is this 1973 Eisenhower Silver Dollar.
Minted in San Francisco. 40% silver content.
The Eisenhower silver dollars honored the famous WWII General and former President Dwight D. Eisenhower. His bust is "heads".
"Tails" feature the special Eagle reverse that is also an adaptation of the official Apollo 11 insignia.
All these were struck from 1971-1974. After 1971, the dies were modified several times to improve the relief made on the Earth above the eagle, making it more clearly defined.
None were minted in 1975, due to the fact that the U.S. Mint was preparing for the Bicentennial issue.
Due to the high cost of silver bullion, it is unlikely that the Ike Dollar will ever be struck again, in silver.Designer - Engraver: Frank Gasparro
