Item Description
First this is just my opinion on what happened to this coin I am just telling you what I see in this coin.Thin coin it must of had the wrong planchet because it is about half the thickness (see picture) I think that is what caused it because that gave it a lot of space to move around.Second there is a lot of planchet damage and the pieces of metal travel around and get stuck in places like the wheat pennies do so I can see a lot of pieces of metal stuck in the areas where it got shaved off so that meant that it happened after the metal got shaved off or else it wouldn't be there if it would have been before than it would have been takin away.When I look at the C & A in AMERICA the metal looks like it sunk down and never got struck by what shaved the planchet right next to it very close together.The words IN GOD WE TRUST are on an area or metal that is higher than the rest of the coin if you look at it at an angle you can see it goes up to the start of the word AMERICA and runs along side of the letters.Which a bad planchet can cause metal to flow uneven and cause the coin to get damaged.I have a lot of coins where the planchet gets shaved down just like this one but never so bad as this one.
