Inauguration of the Emperor Leopold II for the county of Namur
Historic context: The ceremony of the inauguration of the Emperor Leopold II as Count of Namur took place on August 22, 1791. The oath was taken in the name of the Emperor by Duke Albert of Saxe-Teschen, whom Leopold had retained in his functions as governor-general of the Austrian Netherlands. On October 3, 1791, the States of Namur asked the government for authorization to have tokens minted at the Brussels Mint in the same number as those which had been struck for the inauguration of Joseph II. Of this token, 109 dozen in silver and 218 dozen in copper were struck.
