This is a replica of the 1853-O Seated Liberty Half Dollar that is marked 'COPY' on the reverse. In 1853, the New Orleans Mint stamped two versions of the Seated Liberty Half Dollar. Most of the 1853 halfs minted in New Orleans were Variety 2, which had arrows at the date and rays around the eagle on the reverse. This version was struck in 1853 by the New Orleans Mint BUT had neither arrows at the date nor rays on the reverse. It was minted as a Variety 1 Seated Liberty with NO MOTTO on the reverse, and ONLY 3 specimens are known to exist. This is a way of owning a replica of this rare coin for filling a spot in a collection, or for educational purposes. The specimen is made of brass with silver plating and weighs 12.56+/- grams. It is 28.5+/- mm in diameter and has a reeded edge. Please buy with confidence based on my 100% positive feedback on eBay for over 10 years. Shipping is by USPS First Class Mail and is FREE.
