1913-D Barber Half Dollar VG+ Full Rims Partial 7 Letter LIBERTY Tough Date!
The 1913-D Barber Half Dollar may be the victim of being overshadowed by the much more well known scarcities that are the 1913, 1914 and 1915 Trio of Philadelphia Semi Key Date Low Mintage Rare Coins of the latter pafrt of the Barber Half Set, but to most astute collectors and afficionados of the Barber Half Series, the 1913-D is no longer the sleeper date that it once was.
The 1913-D doesnt exactly have some tremendously abundant mintage with just over 1/2 a million minted and an estimated 10% survival rate today. Of that 500k estimated survival rate, not many are in grades above AG or G
Well here we have a choice original VG specimen sporting a partial 7 Letter LIBERTY with a full LITY and fragments of B, E and R
Full Rims, Full Bold Motto on the reverse, nice shield definition and eagle wing feathers almost 1/2 way to the tips. This coin is a borderline Fine and there are many ho would grade it as Fine.... Just not me. I have it as "Choice VG", but ultimately you must decide
