A mintage this high was unimaginable just a few years earlier, and it reflects the optimism that existed during the New Deal period. 1936(P) dimes are plentiful in all grades through MS-67, and enough of them display Full Bands that this feature is not an obstacle to locating a suitable piece. The great number of dies required for such production resulted in no fewer than eight known doubled-die obverse varieties. Most of these are rather slight, and all affect the date and motto IN GOD WE TRUST to one degree or another. The more desirable of these are certified by NGC under its VarietyPlus service.
