This was the final issue of Mercury Dimes to have a mintage of under ten million. For that reason it was always a little scarce in circulation, but enough rolls were saved that Mint State pieces are plentiful. Most of these coins display good luster and good to full strikes. From 1937 through the end of the series in 1945 Denver Mint coins always provide the highest percentage of Full Bands pieces. A single repunched mintmark variety is known for 1938-D, and it's a pleasing one.
