1943-PDS Lincoln Wheat Cents from World War 2
(These Steel Cents were an emergency issue by the US Treasury during the War) Lot AW11
This listing includes 3 Steel Lincoln Cents from the World War II Era! The 3 Steel Cents
will come to you in the Snap Case Shown in the photographs. The coins in the Photographs
are the exact coins you will receive.
The 1943 Steel Cents were minted in Philadelphia, Denver and San Francisco. You'll receive one
cent from each of the 3 mints. These cents were made of Zinc-Coated Steel. They were often
referred to as "Silver Pennies". They are slightly lighter in weight. The "Silver Pennies" were
unpopular back in the 1940's as they were often mistaken for dimes. Also, the Zinc coating quickly wore
away and they would rust.
1943, 1943-D & 1943-S are all the Steel Cent minted in the history of the U.S. Mint!
