With the onset of a post-war recession during 1947-48, mintages for all coins began to fall and would not start to rebound until 1950. Since collectors and speculators routinely saved hundreds of BU rolls at the time, there's no shortage of 1948(P) dimes through MS 66. It's significant, however, that the number of certified MS 67 examples is lower than for previous entries in this series. Due to poor quality control, FT coins are somewhat scarce.
A nice doubled-die reverse is known for the 1948(P) dime, and this is gaining in popularity.
