1986 American Silver Eagle PCGS PR69 DCAM -w/OGP - Flawless Intense Contrast
First year, always popular and in demand issue this 1986 Proof 1 oz .999 Fine Silver American Silver Eagle just back from PCGS, along with a handful of other key date Eagles, where it was graded PCGS PR69 DCAM.
I am not one to submit many moderns. I cherry-picked this from the 15 or so 1986 Proof Silver Eagles I have in possession as probably the best shot at a 70, and it didnt make the cut at PCGS. I can find nary a contact mark, spot, milk spot or other blemish and the luster is superb and totally original, uniterrupted and full. The mirrors are extremely deep, and the black/white, watery contrast as good as I have seen on any American Silver Eagle. I do not know what PCGS is looking for to distinguish a 69 from a 70 if this one failed to cross that line.
If I didnt feel this had at least a 3:1 shot of making the 70 grade, I never would have sent it in
