1992 P American Gold Eagle Bullion Coins: Proof

In 1992, Americas received a new president, a new host of The Tonight Show, and new numerals on the front face of their American Gold Eagles.

Since the inception of the popular American Eagle program five years prior, which allowed Americans the ability to safely and easily purchase gold, the date had been struck into the front face of the coin in Roman numerals. Beginning in 1992, however, the U.S. Mint switched to the Arabic numerals seen on other legal-tender U.S. coins, making this a unique mintage among its Gold Eagle peers.

Struck in 91.67% fineness and containing a one-tenth ounce of pure gold, this coin carries a face value of five dollars, making it the most affordable entry in the American Gold Eagle series. Graded by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC), this coin has been minted in near-perfect Mint State 69 (MS69) condition.
