In 2004 the US Mint honored President Jefferson, his frontier ambassadors Lewis & Clark and the American Indians who sustained them, on the Bicentennial of the expedition that changed the United States forever.
The Lewis & Clark Bicentennial Silver Dollar was designed by Donna Weaver.
The obverse depicts Captains Lewis & Clark on a steam bank planning another day of exploration.
The reverse features two feathers to represent the many American Indian cultures touched by the Corps of Discovery. It also features an image of the original Jefferson Peace Medal presented to American Indian nations during the expedition, surrounded by 17 stars representing the number of states in the union in 1804.
The Lewis & Clark Silver dollar is struck out of .900 fine silver with a net weight of 26.73 grams.
Each coin is in their original government packaging.
