This auction is for the very nice 1862-S Seated Liberty half dollar shown above and below.
Being a civil war issue, this date is very collectible and highly sought after by civil war and coin collectors alike.

This silver half dollar is a very nice higher grade piece that started life as a very well struck coin and saw very little circulation.
As the picture above shows, not only are all the letters in LIBERTY complete, but that the scroll it is written on is also complete.
Every detail of this beauty is fully struck including Lady Liberty's hair; even the curls on her shoulder are still easily visible.
Full 6 radials on stars 1 through 10, star 11 missing only 1 radial and star 12 missing only 2 lines !
This coin has an original very light gray to silver patina that shows very nice luster.

This coin is from a medium size collection that has been off the market for close to 50 years.
The estate group contains mostly better grade Seated Liberty halves and quarters with some higher grade Barber quarters.
