A circulated 1961 (Philadelphia) Lincoln Memorial penny is for sale with a clipped planchet that seems to me to exhibit the Blakesley Effect.
The clipped planchet -- located in the 1-2 o'clock area -- is approximately 2 percent. As shown in the photo with the penny on a truweigh TUFF-WEIGHt digital mini-scale, it weighs 3.05 grams. The missing portion of the coin -- 0.06 gram -- is just under two percent of the usual weight -- 3.11 grams.
There seems to me to be a small Blakesley Effect in the 7-8 o'clock area. May be tough to see in both photos. But it looks to me like that area is not perfectly circular as a normal penny should be.
If you want to see a larger photo that will show the clip and what I believe to be the Blakesley effect better, please let me know and will try to provide ASAP.
Costs for shipping and preparation for shipping is $15.00. The bulk of that cost is shipping up to four ounces via USPS Ground Advantage. I like Ground Advantage because the shipment automatically receives insurance coverage for $100 and a tracking number. If you have any questions, please contact me.
