Item Description
HK-389, Official Souvenir Medal of the 1909 Portola Festival at San Francisco. This came out of a very old collection where it was hidden for a half Century or more. NGC MS-62BN, holed as sold, for suspension on a watch strap. Difficult to locate in any grade without damage, Uncirculated or otherwise, due to how they were issued. Fifteen in Unc grades at NGC, a large number certified by myself. About half of these are distinguished as "With Hole"; almost all the other half not so listed are holed as well. To my knowledge, NONE of these were issued unholed, coming either with a slot such as this example, or a round hole for mounting on ribbon badge. The only unholed example I know of is the ex-Bill Weber MS-65. As far as availability, at least four of the NGC certified Uncs are very closely held, and two others fairly recently sold, so likely also not available. This may be your only opportunity for quite a spell, if you want a problem free Unc example. For reference, I recently paid $350 from another dealer for an MS-63, in order to find one for a customer, and that was CHEAP in my opinion. Due to value this will require shipping with Signature Confirmation, hence the S&H shown.
