Extremely Rare Original BU Roll of 1938-S Jefferson Nickels (40 coins).
Low mintage key date of the Jefferson Nickel series with just 4 million struck. Not many intact original rolls remain today
This was one of the softer struck dates in the series. Coin Facts Jaime Hernandez states the US Mint used old, worn out rusted dies for much of the production. Full Steps on this issue are very rare. Any coin that is certified with Full Steps sells at a significant premium to what common dates sell for.
Don't expect to find many if any at all with full steps, but they are all fully lustrous with original surfaces. The vast majority are brilliant while the two end of roll coins have some very light pastel toning
