Offered here for the collector is a 1917-P Variety 1 Standing Liberty Quarter.
This early Standing Liberty Quarter features the original bare breasted design intended for the entire series. it's a beautiful work of art, but in mid 1917 the design was changed to cover the breast because a vocal minority didn't see it that way. The weak date is seen on many of these due to a high relief, and was better protected by a later design change. The coin has very little wear, only at high spots.
