A couple of things to notice on this 1923-S Cent. There is a spot of black type verdigris at 9:00 o'clock reverse which is somewhat distracting but it's not all that big. The main thing to note is the overall color. What you are seeing here is the WOODGRAIN effect which makes the coin have the effect you see often on genuine hardwood furniture. Woodgrain affect is caused by improper mixture of metal during the planchet production process. Although this does effect eye appeal it does not effect the grade of the coin. Woodgrain effect is noticed on several Lincoln Cents produced from 1912-1928 especially 1923-S.
