1946 (P) Walking Liberty Half Dollar Doubled Die Reverse FS-50-1946-801. NGC Fine-15 grade. The variety IS NOT noted on the insert tag inside the slab. It is not worth spending the extra $$$ to have it sent into NGC for variety attribution and reholdering. I have a new digital camera, and I am still trying to figure out how to correctly use it. So I apologize for the poor quality photos, but I hope to replace them with better ones. In the meantime, the attached photos make this half dollar look like it has a "grainy" appearance, but the coin is actually better than the photos portray. The 1946 Walking Liberty Half Dollar DDR offered here features the strongest and most extensive doubled die of the entire series, and is in great demand. Strong doubling is visible on the eagle's large wing feathers and left leg, the inner parts of the cactus branches, the letters LURIBUS of PLURIBUS, and the letters UM of UNUM. Excellent closeup photos of the doubling can be seen on the Variety Vista website. This variety is included in the Cherrypickers' Guide 5th Edition Volume 2, indexed as FS-50-1946-801, and found on page 280.
PLEASE NOTE: This coin is DOUBLE LISTED. It is listed under the Walking Liberty Half Dollars category, AND ALSO under the Cherrypickers' Guide Varieties category. If this item should sell under THAT category, it will immediately be deleted from THIS category.
