There were two major varieties of the 1834 Capped Bust Dime and both of them deal with the size of the number "4" in the 1834 date. The smaller "4" sits up higher and has a different style than the large "4" which is taller. The differences between the Large "4" vs Small "4" 1834 Capped Bust Dime can be seen in the example image above.
