How to Use the Coin Value Tables

These tables show estimated retail values for each date, mint mark, and variety across the most commonly collected grades. Here’s how to read them.

The Four Tabs & Row Highlighting

At the top of the page you can switch between four views. When a coin has listings in the active view, the entire row is highlighted:

Buy It Now / For Sale Blue row — members or dealers currently selling the coin
Auctions Amber row — active auctions
Wishlist Green row — someone is looking for this coin
Personal Collection Gray row — coins already owned by members

The number in the last column is a clickable link that takes you to all current listings of that exact variety.

Understanding Each Column

Year
Date the coin was struck plus its mint mark (P, D, S, W, etc.). Clicking the year opens the detailed page for that exact variety, including photos and current marketplace listings.
Details
Any special variety, error, or designation (Doubled-Die, VDB, Overmintmark, Reverse Proof, Wisconsin Quarter, etc.).
Mintage
How many coins of that date + mint + variety were produced. Lower numbers generally mean higher rarity. “N/A” is used for varieties where the exact mintage is unknown or for the most recent issues where final figures are not yet available.
G4 → PR65 (Grade Columns)
Estimated retail values in the most commonly collected grades on the Sheldon scale:
  • G4 – Good
  • VG8 – Very Good
  • F12 – Fine
  • VF20 – Very Fine
  • EF40 – Extremely Fine
  • AU50 – About Uncirculated
  • MS60 / MS65 – Mint State (Uncirculated)
  • PR65 – Proof
A dash (–) means pricing data is unavailable, the grade is extremely rare/non-existent for that issue, or (on modern coins) the piece is worth face value in that grade.
For Sale / Auctions / Wanted / Owned
The number of current listings in the active tab. Click the number (or the Year link) to see them.

Mobile Users

On smaller screens the tables scroll horizontally. The Year column stays sticky so you always know which coin you’re looking at. Tap any year to open the full detail page.

Data View (Power User Mode)

On pages that contain value tables you will see a dark Data View button near the top of the first table. Clicking it opens a full-screen advanced version of the chart that merges every subtype into one continuous table.

What you can do in Data View:

  • Search by year or mint mark (e.g. 1987 or S)
  • Filter to “Only show listings” (hides rows with zero marketplace activity)
  • Show or hide any columns
  • Click any column header to sort ascending / descending
  • Reset sort order
  • Export the current filtered & sorted view as a CSV file

Data View is especially useful when you want to scan an entire series at once, find the lowest mintage dates, or export data for research.

About the Prices

Values are estimates of what a collector would typically pay a dealer or another collector. They are based on long-term tracking of catalogs, dealer lists, eBay and Heritage results, our own marketplace, and live precious-metal prices for silver, gold, and platinum issues.

For the most recent years we use running mintage totals from the U.S. Mint until sales of a product end. Once a product is discontinued, the final cumulative figure becomes the official mintage.
