One major variety is the 1809/8 $5 Capped Bust Gold Half Eagle. There were no "normal" varieties for this year - all half eagles produced in 1809 features the 1809 over 1808 overdate error (9 Over 8 variety). Parts of the underlying "8" can be seen in the middle of the "9" in the date.
