What This Coin Looks Like (Obverse, Reverse, Mint Mark Location, Special Features, etc.): There were two major varieties of the 1804 $10 Gold Turban Head Eagle. One variety features a Crosslet "4" in the 1804 date - which is the common and original variety actually struck in 1804 (depicted above). The other variety is the Plain "4" without the crosslet at the right side of the "4" - which is actually an exceptionally rare restrike Proof coin.
