About Me:

Greetings from Dcreek1968.  As a coin collector for many years, it is a great pleasure to be part of the USA Coin book family.  I retired from the University of Illinois in 2008 after a career of 33+ years.  I regularly attend and set up at local coin shows in the central Illinois area in addition to having my own website which offers a little bit more about myself and some of the cons that I have for sale. The website if you want to check it ous is Odysseycoins.com.   I actively buy and appraise coins for individuals and have a special interest in all of the coins from the start of the U.S. mint to 1964.

All manner of varieties intrigue me and I am currently pursuing attribution by CONECA of a new Mercury doubled die discovery piece.  John Wexler has already attributed this coin as a new discovery DDO with strong doubling on the date.  More to come later as this coin moves through the attribution process.  One of the varieties that most intrigues me is the three varieties large cent of 1801.  In my mind, I can just see the mint director getting into a dispute with the guy who punches out the dies and the guy who punches out the dies says to himself, "If you think that was a screw up wait until you see the coins coming out of this next set of 1801 dies.  Those will really be messed up and then you will have something to complain about.  (Update 10/30/10:  CONECA has attributed the 1945 Mercury Dime Doubled Die Obverse as - DDO-002, 2-O-V-CCW, stage B, MDS.)

If you want to find out more about regarding selling coins, etc. on Ebay, go to Ebay and look at the profile and feedback for Dcreek1968.  Although we haven't done a lot of selling on Ebay compared to others, you will find a feedback score of 100% over the years that we have been doing Ebay.  We are excited about the USA Coin Book website as an  alternative to Ebay.  Ebay's fees and other charges have made it intolerable to try to sell something on Ebay and get a fair price for your coins.  USA Coin Book appears to be the answer, in my humble opinion.

2- favorite sayings:

From "Return to Lonesome Dove" - The worst thing that an honest man can do is make an honest mistake."

From Zig Ziglar - You can get everything in life you want if you just help enough other people get what they want.

I will be posting some coins for sale or auction.  I look forward to working with everyone.  Best to all!!
