About Me:

Lifelong coin collector, recently retired and looking to pay for my fishing, so if you follow the fishing reports for Long Island, NY, if the weather is nice and the fishing is good, that's your tip to make an offer, cuz I might need some cash for boat fare or bait. Otherwise, I'm here to try to supplement my income and educate younger coin collectors on how not to get ripped off by the few unscrupulous scam artists that are out there looking to pay or charge more than a fair price, or worse, misleading someone less knowledgeable by offering cleaned, over-graded or over-priced coins.
I started collecting when I was 10, but my grandfather had me sifting through his old coins from the age of 5 or maybe younger. Some of my earliest memories are of looking at old coins and wondering what was going on that year. I started going to coin shows when I was 12 or so, and I loved buying, trading and selling coins, but also wondered for a long time why the value of my collection en masse seemed to constantly go down unless I made a new purchase with money directly from my paper route. I learned the hard way, and then learned the best way, which is to be fair in all matters.
- here's my promise to you...
1) I will always be totally honest with you, never try to get more than a coin is worth. If there's damage to a coin, for example, I'll point it out, even if it's easy to miss. Or if a coin has been cleaned, I'll tell you if I think so.
2) I'm also smart enough to know what I don't know, so if I don't know how to grade something, I'll tell you what I think, but leave it to your judgment. I love the grade by photo web pages and use them extensively.
3) I try to price coins just a little bit less than the competition, just to get a better spot on the page. If you think a price of mine is out of line? Make an offer.
4) Everything is negotiable. Except when it's not.
5) I ALWAYS try to offer FREE SHIPPING. Shipping and handling add ons are such a pain in the butt, and especially when you have to click on a coin to get to the next page to see the S&H. As a result...
6) WYSIWYG What you see is what you get. I am NOT the best photographer in the world let alone my own zip code, and my only true skill is in taking photos of pretty women, cute kids and guys with their guts hanging out holding dead fish. Otherwise? I try to take the best photos of the coins I offer for sale, and the COIN YOU SEE IS THE COIN YOU GET. Unless it's like a roll of Buffalo Nickels of the same date that I sell one by one and you just get the next one off the top. So, you can always assume the coin you see is the one you will get, UNLESS I tell you otherwise. I RARELY use a stock photo.
7) If it's less than an ounce and a single coin of value that doesn't warrant insurance or tracking costs, I ship in a plain white business envelope with a Forever stamp, USPS First Class Mail.
8) Anything over an ounce of or of higher value I ship USPS small package flat envelope, with USPS Tracking.
9) I TRY to pack the day you pay me. I only take PayPal or your debit or credit card through PayPal. If you pay me after business hours, I pack the next day. If there's going to be a delay, I try to email you as soon as I know.
10) Anything packed before 11 am Eastern Time ships the same day if there is USPS service, so that means Mon - Sat except holidays.
11) I update Tracking numbers as soon as I pack, so you will have your tracking number via email the day you pay, the day after or the day I pack. Always before shipment.
12) I try to email you each step of the shipping process.
13) I LOVE to leave positive feedback for my buyers.
14) I love it just as much when you leave positive feedback for me. I like to think that I treat you right and that whenever I sell a coin, we both get something of value and are better off.
Thanks,
Bill Purkins (Silver Willie)
