1813 50C/UNI Capped Bust Half Dollar - 50C Over UNI Error
One major variety of the 1813 Capped Bust Half Dollar features a "50 C." struck over the letters "UNI" at the bottom of the reverse of the coin. This error was the result of the engraver accidently put the letters of "UNI" from "UNITED" in the wrong location. This error was then detected and the letters partially removed before the "50 C." was struck over them. These letters from "UNI" are depicted by the arrows in the example image above.
