One major variety of the 1856 Large Indian Princess Head Gold Dollar features an Upright "5" in the 1856 date on the reverse of the coin. There were two different style varieties for the "5" in the date. The "Upright 5" features a "5" aligned vertically straight on the left side. The other variety is the "Slanted 5" in which the left side of the "5" is slanted at an angle.
