1836 Classic Head $2.50 Gold Quarter Eagle - 2 1/2 Dollars - Script 8
One major variety of the 1836 Classic Head $2.50 Gold Quarter Eagle features a Script "8" style in the 1836 date. There were two different styles made during this year. The Script 8 digit is actually thinner but the insides of the number "8" are much wider and rounder. The number "1" in the date is also slightly taller and comes up to a higher point. The Block "8" has a much thicker digit with less spacing within the inner bottom and top halves of the "8" - with a block-like appearance. The number "1" in the date is slightly shorter and comes up to a lower point than the other variety.
