What This Coin Looks Like (Obverse, Reverse, Mint Mark Location, Special Features, etc.):

There were two major varieties of the 1854-O $10 Gold Liberty Head Eagle. The variety depicted above is the Large Date variety - which features larger numbers in the 1854 date on the front of the coin. The other variety features the Small Date with much smaller and shorter numbers. The difference between the Small Date vs Large Date is depicted below in the example comparison image. Note how the number "1" in the large date is so large that it nearly touches the bottom of the liberty bust:
