One major variety is the 1799/8 Draped Bust Large Cent (Penny) Overdate error. This error features a 1799 date struck over a 1798 date which resulted in part of the underlying "8" appearing within the lower portion of the "9" as depicted by the arrows in the example image of the coin above.
