What This Coin Looks Like (Obverse, Reverse, Mint Mark Location, Special Features, etc.):
1807 Capped Bust Half Dollar - Bearded Liberty Goddess
Another major variety of the 1807 Capped Bust Half Dollar features a significant die break on the obverse of the coin. This resulted in a prominent crack through most of the design. The most noticeable portion is a crack between the chin and bust of the liberty portion - hence the name "bearded goddess" was attributed to this variety. Parts of the crack can be seen to the left of the date and through the lower bust. The upper portion of the liberty design also has a crack through the eye and headband as well. These features are depicted by the arrows in the example image above. Source of example image is courtesy of Heritage Auction Galleries.
