1823 Capped Bust Half Dollars : Ugly 3

What This Coin Looks Like (Obverse, Reverse, Mint Mark Location, Special Features, etc.):

This variety of the 1823 Capped Bust Half Dollar features the "Ugly 3" in the date. After the broken 3 was patched up - a die crack appeared on the rim and extended upward. This resulted in part of the right side of the "3" being broken away and this is became known as the Ugly 3 variety. This variety is most easily identified by noticing an unusually shaped 3 that looks like it has a small extra bump on the right side of the upper half of the "3". The inner piece on the left side of the 3 is slightly different in shape as well.
