What This Coin Looks Like (Obverse, Reverse, Mint Mark Location, Special Features, etc.):

There were two major varieties of the 1806 Turban Head Gold Quarter Eagle. One variety features an 1806/5 Overdate with an 1806 struck over an 1805 date where parts of the underlying "5" seen towards the upper and bottom right side of the "6" and within the "6". The other variety is an 1806/4 overdate. The difference between the 1806/5 vs 1806/4 overdates is depicted below in the example comparison image:



Both varieties also have other differences on the obverse of the coin. All 1806/5 coins feature 7x6 stars (7 stars on the left side and 6 stars on the right side). The 1806/4 variety has 8x5 stars.
