What This Coin Looks Like (Obverse, Reverse, Mint Mark Location, Special Features, etc.): There were two major varieties of the 1804 $5 Gold Turban Head Half Eagle. This variety features a Small "8" in the 1804 date. The other variety is known as the "Small 8 Over Large 8" overdate. It is extremely easy to distinguish the two varieties.
